The Creating Sustainable Communities project will provide a range of intermediate and advanced driver training courses to upskill existing community drivers and increase employability of staff and volunteers as we move out of lockdown. The CPC Minibus D1 course offered by the CSC project is a highly desirable professional driving qualification which would normally cost between £1000 - £1500*. The CSC project has a limited amount of funding to support up to 20 drivers attain their award by September 2024.
Various other certified MIDAS training courses will also be delivered FREE for eligible groups under the Creating Sustainable Communities project including, MIDAS Minibus Driver, MIDAS Car/MPV Driver, MIDAS Emergency Evacuation, MIDAS Passenger Assistant.
All training will be provided by (DART DIRECT), which is DART's social enterprise and an accredited training centre for a range of transport training courses. In certain circumstances drivers who successfully complete D1 CPC will be eligible to join DART's list of approved drivers and access paid employment opportunities.
Please not that although our driver training programs have now restarted from Jan 2022, some modifications have been made to training programs due to Covid-19 and the necessity to abide by social distancing regulations.

PROFESSIONAL MINIBUS DRIVER TRAINING
The CPC D1 Minibus training package is a professional driver course and can take between 9-12 months to complete.
This intensive training program takes a modular format which is outlined in the infographic. Our training approach provides the following support at every stage including:
Pre-Requisite Stage: - Administrative assistance through what can be a complicated bureaucratic process and Access NI guidance, if required.
(Module 01) Theory Test: - You are supplied with relevant learning resources, including official DVSA books and test preparation DVDs.
(Module 02) Case Study (CPC) Theory: - You are supplied with relevant learning resources, including official DVSA books and test preparation DVDs.
(Module 03) Practical Driving Test: - Two days of full on the road driving focusing on the DVA test with a fully qualified and experienced Advanced Driving Instructor (ADI)
(Module 04) Practical ‘Show Me Tell Me’ Test: - We provide a half day training session (classroom & practical) to prepare you for this test.
You will need to contact your GP to arrange for a medical to be carried out as part of your application. There is usually a fee for this charged by your GP (this cost is not covered by this course).
Full payment of £200 (non-refundable) must be paid before any learning resources can be released to trainees.
Course fees cover one attempt at each module; please note re-sit fees are the responsibility of the trainee.
*Module 3 & 4 are subject to available dates with Craigavon Test Centre, therefore, there may be a delay in getting test dates for these two modules. Trainees must be over 21 years of age. Download the informational flyer for this course here.

FIRE EVACUATION COURSE
MIDAS 5 Steps to Safety training teaches practical skills to avoid vehicle fires and learn what to do in order to safely evacuate passengers if a fire does break out. 5 Steps to Safety uses classroom based and practical training and covers how to recognise the common causes of fire, how to reduce the risk of vehicle fires, when and how to use a fire extinguisher, and how to safely evacuate a vehicle using the five steps to safety.
DART is a recognised MIDAS training agent for the Community Transport Association (CTA). Our MiDAS training is currently provided free to eligible groups as part of the CSC project.
